Bethune is one of those small, southern railroad and farm towns that makes the area so charming. And like many other towns, its name was changed from Lynchwood to Bethune around the turn of the 20th century in honor of a local citizen, Daniel Bethune, who allowed a vital railroad to pass through his property. First settled by a rugged group of Presbyterian Scots-Irish in the 1700s, their legacy remains intact through the lineage of much the local populace and is further memorialized in the nearby Scottish burial ground off of Highway 1. Nestled between Lynches River and Little Lynches River, Bethune is known for its Chicken Strut which gives back to its local community and makes for a lot of fun. Our branch is located on the eastern side of town with an experienced staff ready to assist with your banking needs.
