FDIC Information

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is an independent agency of the United States government that protects the funds depositors place in FDIC-insured banks. FDIC insurance is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government. Since the FDIC was established in 1933, no depositor has ever lost any money through FDIC-insured funds. As a customer of First Palmetto Bank, your deposit accounts are insured for up to at least $250,000 per depositor for each account ownership category as defined by the FDIC. Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator (EDIE)

The FDIC has made a tool available called the Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator (EDIE). EDIE lets you know exactly how the insurance rules and limits apply to your specific deposit accounts including what's insured and what portion (if any) exceeds coverage limits.

EDIE can be used to calculate the insurance coverage for:

  • Personal Accounts – deposits held by people in single accounts, joint accounts, POD/ITF accounts, living trust accounts, irrevocable trust accounts, and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).
  • Business Accounts – deposits held by corporations, partnerships, and organizations, both for-profit and nonprofit.

Visit the FDIC EDIE website or call the FDIC toll-free at 1.877.ASK.FDIC (1.877.275.3342) for help.
